He says, "It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant
To rise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved ones of Israel;
I will also make You a light of the nations
So that My salvation will reach to the ends of the earth."
~Isaiah 49:6
I have read Isaiah many times as I love the Old Testament! That means I have read this verse several times before, and it is the first time I really realized what it says. Many many years before Jesus came, God said through the prophet Isaiah that it was not enough for the Messiah to come and save Israel; God intended from the beginning to bring salvation to all the peoples of the world!
How awesome is that!
We know that God loves the world. It is clear throughout Scripture that this is the case. But this is the only place I have seen where God says its not enough to save Israel only, it is necessary for Jesus to bring salvation to the ends of the earth.
Is anyone else blown away by this???
